New Zealand artist Leon Verhulst’s use of intense colour, bold imagery and scale often belie the precise nature in which his work is created.
Experimentation with preconception and illusion are recurring themes in his work, as is the suggestion of movement and opposing points of perspective. He seeks to challenge his viewers own perspective by making them question their interpretation of what is before them – a philosophy Leon applies to everyday life.
Leon began his creative career within the advertising industry as a graphic designer, and now balances freelance design so he can spend more time dedicated to creating his own art.
